Developments at the RanchIt was a great showing of pledges in response to the recent request to help the CSS buy the Ranch north of the LZ. However the 175K is only about 1/3 the amount needed. A couple of the CSS members mentioned a method of purchasing an easement on a property called "Purchase of Development Rights" (PDR). There is a lot of information about this growing conservation oriented trend by googling "Purchase of Development Rights". I have had some trouble finding a local appraiser to come out and give a value on what limitations we want to place on the lower section (front acreage) of the ranch. Even the county will not respond to questions about how property taxes might be affected by such a PDR.
