Election Time - 2009It is almost election time for the 2010 Board. There will be vacancies for several key positions and all positions are open for nominations. Please let me (president at crestlinesoaring.org), or any Board member know if you are interested in standing for election. The official position descriptions for each Board member can be found at: http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/css_constitution_march_2005 . At the Fall board meeting I was asked to provide a more plain language description of the expected duties, so here goes: (Incumbent has indicated they are retiring from the President, Site Coordinator and Activities Coordinator positions. Two have been on the Board for many years (time for a break) and one has moved). - President - Calls and leads meetings. Public face of CSS. Writes documents and letters. Usually provides a link to past decisions. - Site Coordinator - Maintains the conditions at the site. Collects memberships and day use fees placed in the drop box and gets them to the Treasurer. Paints, cleans, maintains bulletin board. Needs to be at the LZ on a regular basis. - Activities Coordinator - Coordinates two annual fly-in events. May also coordinate road trips to other sites. - Vice President - Takes over for the President when necessary. Pitches in and helps with tasks around the LZ. - Treasurer - Detail oriented. Enters all transactions into QuickBooks. Makes sure deposits are made, bills get paid, governmental filings are completed on time. - Secretary - Produces official minutes of the two annual meetings. - Webmaster - Maintains CSS web sites and weather station. Both are UNIX-based. Requires strong computer knowledge. Let us know if you are interested in any of these positions. If there is an incumbent they may be willing to move to another position. If we get enough interest we might even have a contested election. This is a great club and the Boards have been super groups of individuals who have all worked well together and put the Club's best interests ahead of their own. If you have a few hours a month to dedicate to maintaining and improving one of the best sites in the nation, I encourage you to apply. - Alan Crouse Sites > Crestline · Marshall News > Club Biz |
