Elsinore 9-17-08We arrived at launch at 11:30. Thunderheads off in the distance and haze domes over head, a good sign. I watched the conditions, saw some birds in the corner house thermal and launched at 12:05. Good thermals. Light to medium bumpy. Clouds started to pop over the ranches and south towers. I just started looking up and flying the clouds. This took me to 7960' msl. Cloud base was at 8K. Got real bumpy up there. Took a full frontal at 7800' msl. It was over before I could do anything but barely hit the brakes. I flew to the next smaller cloud after that one. I flew from cloud base to cloud base as they formed and moved NE. Pretty cool. I landed at my house after 1 hr and 50 min. Uneventful landing in 10 mph west winds. Good flight. Forums > Pilot Reports Flight > PG Sites > Elsinore Looking forward to itThe odds are, we already have and don't know it. We need transponder chipsIf we all get little tracking chips and radio receivers like the bird or bear trackers use, we can tell who's comming from miles away. Wouldn't that be a hoot! We probably have shared a thermal or two by now, like 'two airships passing in the flight' |
