Crestline Soaring Society

Locations of the weather station, webcam, and Windtalker in Crestline.

Starting in April 2010, the weather station, webcam, and windtalker are all on microwave towers 150 yds. NW of Crestline launch in a great, totally unobstructed location.

From 2006 through 2009 the wx/webcam was 250 yds. SE of Crestline launch, where it was subject to rotor during north winds. The original location (2000-2005) of the wx/webcam gear was about one mile east of launch at a pilot's residence. The Windtalker was 1.3 miles east of launch (Hwy. 138 and Crest Forest Drive) until April 2010. The windtalker was originally positioned for sensitivity to the onset of north flow, but had become obstructed by the forest over the years.
