Big-O Loop Available for Training, Practice & Fun!

Forums:

No-Fly Steve is our designated driver. Reach out to him directly or use this new forum topic to organize and coordinate rides up. The road up is in excellent shape. I had two really fun flights this afternoon on my Sport 2 and got higher than launch both times. Video to follow soon. Get Your Loop On people!

More Practice!

The loop is back in action!

What's the cost for shuttle services?  This could be a fun add-on to my sledders until I figure out this thermaling thing.

Good question Kelly. The Ranger will hold two assembled HGs and probably one PG as well on the same trip. It's $5/pilot. Each pilot needs to fill out a manila envelope at the payment slot in the 'shade vending machine' and place the total amount due and insert into the slot.

Cheers, Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan.  Super excited for this new-to-me option.

Diana was asking about the Big-O launches to practice her landings (she's been coming in one wheels lately and wants to re-learn foot landing). I told her the Ranger was in the shop among other issues but now apparently everything is fired back up!

Great news overall. Now I can do my spot landings for H3 more easily and observably.

On a summery day it's entirely possibly to get up from there as well. One has three chances until break even. i like those odds.

If someone wants to do some Big-O-Loop runs and needs a driver let me know. I usually have extra LZ time after flying....

Hi Mark,
I don't even know who all the qualified drivers are. Marc wants to take his Gecko up the Loop for some X/C practice so he can win the 188km challenge from Jonny Durand. Please don't help him because I want to "borrow" his Gecko and win the harness for myself but will be happy to give Marc credit for the new CSS open distance site record of 325miles (not km). Can you grab my RAV4 for me and pick me up from Janie's? Did I mention I plan to break the US foot launch distance record from the 390' launch too?

But seriously, we need to start a Big-O Ranger driver contact list on a separate thread just for that purpose. If we run short then I'd like to have some Ranger driver training but I think much of this is up to Big-O himself.

Thanks, JD

I don't know the wing span limit for the hillside next to the road. At under 38' and 84# I beleive the Exxtacy will work but you may need to have a helper both top and bottom to safely get it on and off the Ranger. I don't recall whether you have wheels and I also don't know the logistics of dealing with control bar wheels on the Ranger's platofrm. Feel free to ask Owen about these issues.
