Board Discussion & Summary: Site Work & Facility Management
Pond Leak & Repairs
Issue Discovered: During a pond cleanup, a leak was discovered in the liner at the very bottom of the pond.
Fish Relocation: Club members safely relocated the fish to a temporary kiddie pool on the beach during repairs.
Resolution: Repairs were conducted over the week to fix the liner and refill the pond, avoiding permanent damage to the pond structure.
AJX Pavilion Network Backbone Upgrade
Scope & Justification: Site Coordinator proposed installing a weather-hardened, shielded Cat6A cable link ($195.00 budget) along the pavilion rafters to protect the router from high static and secure 24/7 video uptime for live webcams.
Board Feedback: Board expressed full support for the proposal and budget, with the option to purchase a larger cable spool if future expansion requires it.
Shade Pavilion Roof Mitigation & Maintenance
Wind Storm Emergency: Recent 50 mph winds caused the pavilion roof flashing to lift and catch air. The Site Coordinator applied a temporary 35-foot duct-tape seal to stop air intrusion and protect the plywood decking.
Assessment & Professional Review: DIY spot-patches were deemed insufficient. Outreach to members and local roofing contractors was initiated to get an expert assessment and repair estimate for a permanent flashing/membrane solution.
LZ Maintenance, Container Cleanout & Rodent Infestation
Junk Removal & Storage Container: Accumulated junk was cleared, and the old green storage container in the active landing zone was addressed for safety.
Rodent Hazard in Container #2: A serious rodent infestation (Hantavirus risk) inside storage container #2 affecting stored gliders was addressed and resolved.
Immediate Action: The Board posted an official Rodent Infestation / Hantavirus Hazard Warning directly on the container, warning members of health risks and enforcing required PPE.
Cleanout Achieved: The Board successfully conducted a volunteer cleanup party with proper PPE (respirators/gloves) using bleach and enzyme solutions to remediate the container, avoiding costly professional biohazard teams.
Marshall Peak Equipment & Weather Station Coordination
Site Equipment Coordination: The Site Coordinator is actively coordinating with club members regarding equipment placed near the Marshall pole to ensure all gear is properly authorized, aligned with site guidelines, and safely positioned.
Weather Station Maintenance Plan: The Site Coordinator is actively managing plans to service the club’s Holfuy weather station, working through logistics and equipment clearance to ensure safe ladder access for upcoming maintenance.
On-Site Security Surveillance Proposal
Proposal: A proposal was raised to install 1–2 dedicated, club-owned surveillance cameras at main facilities for asset/gear protection and liability purposes, independent of privately managed weather cameras.
Action: The Site Coordinator confirmed that dedicated security cameras were already on the Site Work project list and raised their priority for hardware selection and installation.
Site Vandalism Report
Marshall Windsock: Photos were shared with the Board showing severe damage/destruction to the windsock on Marshall, noted as intentional vandalism requiring replacement/repair.
