Rip Bill Rehr (Wilmer). Always a fun guy to be around and a very good pilot. Excellent SkyDiver, very good Hangglider Pilot and accomplished paraglider pilot. Many hours and flights hanging with Bill. Put away a few Coors Light together. Swapped a lot of stories under the Old Oak Tree. His were always better. Born To Fly. Apparently he experienced complications from an earlier surgery. Fly High my Friend
March 20, 2025 at 11:11 AM #21745I didn’t recognize the name, so I tried to look him up, whether I’d recognize the face. I found this article where he does tell a bit of a story. Uplifting Experience – Los Angeles Times
I’m sorry for your loss. 😔

General MemberI remember Wilmer. Very upbeat and great company as well as a skilled pilot.
I recall sharing a sweet climb with him while he was flying a cool looking French PG.
I will think of Wilmer while I sip a porter in his honor this evening.
Thanks for letting the community know Jack.
Cheers,

What a Great guy ; shared a Bunch of post-flight beers with him … I first met Bill in the late 70’s , in the old LZ , on the N side of the 74. He was also an accomplished martial artist , and always stayed in perfect shape ; and had a very grounded attitude towards , “Life”. I am really going to miss him !!

March 22, 2025 at 9:17 PM #21783BILLY, what a great guy!
I moved to California in 1988 from NY. Couldn’t wait to go fly The E in Lake Elsinore. After a few flights there I finally met up with Bill. Easy to give out tips and pointers on how to avoid the big sink holes and where to find lift when in need.
It was early on after that he said to me you may consider joining the Elsinore club. I said sure, what are the dues? He tells me you’re in luck today. We have a month special, a 12 pack of Coors Light, and you’re in. Oh, and by the way the Ortega Market, right over there, has it in the cooler, nice and cold.
“”Back then, they didn’t have 18 packs”.
I said, I’ll be right back, I can walk there and back from here.
Rest in Peace Our Friend!
FLY SAFE!
