The 2nd hour had the wind direction change from SW to a less favorable South, and lift was reduced. More pilots launches as some had waited for the wind/lift to reduce.
In my flight’s 3rd hour, the wind gradually returned to SW and smooth lift kept increasing until I had to leave for sunset, while watching a small-but-smoky fire blaze across the valley.
About a dozen pilots got their fill.
