The cloud machine was up and running yesterday. Chilly, but lift all day for those that chose to partake. Got to “fly the clouds” instead of the ground.
Launched at 10 from Marshall – almost nil wind on launch, and fairly active morning air. Bounced around at cloudbase (by my instruments, I topped out at 4600′ MSL) for 45 minutes and landed to get lunch and let my fingers thaw.
Launched from Marshall again at 13:30 for a 2h flight up to 5800’ MSL. Lots of pilots in the air – looks like everyone got a turn at the top of the stack, with some pushing out East. Not sure how far they made it. I aimed for a couple of hangs out in front under a nice thick cloud and was greeted with really great lift and a long steady straight climb. Almost made it to the radio towers south of AJX (maybe next time).
