The carpet at launch not only looks like crap it is destroying launch.  I was hoping I could motivate the people that littered the hill side to remove it.  The roots from the grass and weeds is what keeps the hill from erosion.  Cmon people your better than this.  It’s simple. If dirt is your issue then plant grass if weeds and grass is your problem then bust out the weed eater..

I really dont want to get blm involved but I will if I have to.  I haven’t filled  a formal complaint yet but they assured me what has been done to launch is considered littering and people could be prosecuted for it..

So the point of this post is to try to get the carpet ,trash removed from all blm launch sites.  Lol any one up for some trash removal???

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hey Brent, this was done with the approval of the National Forest Service (as this is forest land not blm). Thanks for your concern.</p>

Hmmm… it appears that Brent hasn’t been a USHPA member since 2011, and is not a CSS member.

Yes you are correct.  I don’t support the css or ushpa.  Thank God neither one of them has control over national forest.  Sure would be nice if you all could fly without messing up the the forest you launch from.  I grew up on that mountain, went to high-school there and now have grand children that live there.  I don’t need to be a member of your control group…  I have a little over 3200 hrs in pg and 1800 in hg most of it there without screwing up the launch and almost all of those flights never touching the lz.    Your a sheep, a follower  and worst of all a flat lander.  You always were a big mouth around there but never ever once did i see you lift a finger to better the css.  National forest is my back yard.  I think I remember where you live.  Perhaps you would like me to share some of this carpet with you by covering your yard with it.  But only if you want me to. Lol

    Brent,

Everyone’s entitled to their own strong personalities, on and off this site, but policy in this forum is that threats (to people or property) are not something that’s tolerated. You’ve shared your opinions about the carpet on the Crestline launch (which some of us have worked to install and maintain over time and most of the rest of us quite appreciate being there), but take the threats elsewhere, please, and keep it civil. Not sure what your beef is all of a sudden, but if you have something to contribute to our local flying community, maybe join the club and help us work to make it a great site for everyone.

OK David.  I was just being a smart ass.  I’m no threat to anyone.  As far as becoming a member I will have to decline.   I would never want to be part of a group that thinks carpeting national forest is a good thing.  I can see I’m pissing in the wind.   Guess I’ll try my luck with all the tree hugger groups and local media.

Sure Brent,   Go complain to outside, non-flying groups or raise a stink with the public, some of whom may be looking for excuses to curtail or eliminate “free flight”.    BRILLIANT     I have not flown Crestline in a while but if individuals or the club is going to install carpet or sanction it…. Then yes …. It should be maintained, ascetically, and in a safe manner, otherwise I would agree that it should be removed.  This should not be something that requires a pissing match, especially when one party is pissing into the wind 😮
