Celebrating the Life of Robert “Bob” Pobocik
A Legend Returns to the LZ
Bob’s loving wife, Silvia and The Crestline Soaring Society invites all pilots, friends, and family to join us for a memorial service honoring long-time pilot Robert “Bob” Pobocik.

Bob was a fixture of our community and a USHPA member since 1977. While he may have spent more time on the ground than in the air in recent years, his passion for flight and his history at Andy Jackson Airpark are part of the very thermal air we fly today. We are gathering to ensure his “last flight” is a memorable one.

    Event Details
    When: Saturday, March 14th
    Time: Afternoon
    Where: Andy Jackson Airpark (AJX)
The Vibe: Casual, respectful, and celebratory
    What to Expect
Flying: Weather permitting, we’ll be filling the sky in Bob’s honor. We encourage pilots to take a flight for a fallen brother.
Food & Drink: A taco truck will be on-site along with cold beverages.
Storytelling: We’ll have a moment to share memories. If you flew with Bob back in the day, we’d love to hear your favorite “no-sh*t, there I was” stories.
A Note to our Newer Pilots
You might not have seen Bob on launch recently, but he was part of the generation that paved the way for the access and freedom we enjoy at Marshall and Crestline today. Come out, grab a taco, meet the veterans, and help us give a proper send-off to a pilot who lived the dream for over 40 years.

Blue skies and soft landings, Bob.
