Head straight for that “birdnado“, was the plan, and it worked. Long lulls on launch where we observed large groups of birds joining into a thermal. Video of my launch and finding a solid thermal.
I then enjoyed crossing the valley ahead, following a line of lift and clouds: Animation on SportsTrackLive. Many pilots found more lift than desired when the sun was setting, a classic Soboba “problem”.
You could literally see the lift over the valley…
