Saturday, March 7th, 9am. Meet in the Andy Jackson LZ to get a ride up to the Pond in the Ranger.

We previously drained the pond to clean it up but in the process discovered a leak in the pond liner so we had to move the fish to a temp kiddie pool and drain the pond fully.  This is a once in a decade opportunity to see the pond fully empty but more importantly to clear out all the mudd settle on the bottom! We really need a show of force from CSS members, this will take 30 people to do effectively.  If you enjoy the green grass on our LZ that stays that way from the water the pond provides you should give a day to the club for one of the hardest jobs we need to get done!

Bring work gloves, wear sneakers, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (really dirty). Bring a 5 gallon bucket if you have one. Bring water/sports drinks and your lunch. This is going to be a tough job, we need dedication for the day so don’t plan to fly.

By the time we meet to get this work party done we will have repaired the liner. In the pic above you’ll see a large flap we opened up to get access to the void below, that was erosion from the leak. We have filled it with pea-gravel and topped it with sand, then we will seal up the surgical incision. The original leak was from a collar around the drain pipe that failed and was allowing water to push in around the sides of the pipe. Our repair will have a double seal to ensure this never happens again.
