For anyone that knew Dave Mazzola, he passed away this past week.  I have no details at this time other than the family is looking to sell a U2 HG that he had.  I have no info yet on the condition of the glider.  He had a mini-Mooney airplane that he kept in a hangar at the Lake Elsinore Soaring (sailplane) Club,  that I believe will be available as well.  I can provide contact info for anyone interested.  RIP

Sorry to hear he passed… I met Dave 1993,, i had maybe 1 hour of air time since i had only started flying HGs approx. 2 months prior at the EEE and Dave let me test his fly his old WW Sport 167.  I launched and stumbled into E convergence and had a great 1.5 hour flight at 8K. so my air time more than doubled  :)   I did not know Raleigh Collins was out that day flying and the next thing i hear while in the shear at 7k was Raleigh hollering over from 40 feet away.  HEY YA DID IT… I had promised Dave i would land after an hour so i was a half hour late…

RIP Dave >>> thanks for that 1st soaring flight and the 167 sport demo.

Last call for anyone interested in Dave’s U2.  Family from out of state is here this weekend.  Evidently there is a second HG available.  I will try to get details when I meet with them tomorrow or Saturday in Elsinore.

What size is Dave’s U2 and if you know the year of manufacture and how many hours on it would be very useful as well as the asking price. I’d only be interested if it’s a 145 and made later than 2010.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Allo Tom,  sorry I did not see you post sooner.  The U2 is a 145 (I believe) and may have been manufactured in 2003?  This may be the same glider that Dave tumbled around that year.  The family never gave me a set price.  I believe Mickey S has worked out a deal to acquire it.  I will repost if that falls thru.  He is visiting, back from N.C. to fly the Owens in the next week or two and should be making an appearance at AJX soon.

Allo all,  evidently Dave’s U-2 and his Fusion HG are still available.  Currently located in Elsinore, but I can bring them to this Saturday’s Fly-in if some one has a SERIOUS interest in one or both.  They are a bit old but in very good condition.  I believe the family will take $500 each, with a good break if you buy both.  (Possibly $500 for both?). What every they get is going to a “wounded Warrior” type of Veterans  charity.  I think they are still trying to sell his “mini-money” airplane for those with a GA ticket.  I am hoping to fly my Super Floater this Saturday as well.  If anyone has an interest in this or the GOAT ultra light 3 axis (hang) gliders let me know and we can chat at the Fly-in.  Thanks, Alan

I could probably move the GOAT on my airplane, ultralight , and glider forum ; a few people have inquired about has anyone seen one for sale.

    BUT

The mini-money ; I googled that and got nothing , so I’d need a picture and the real name for the airplane to move it as well.

not trying to sell the Super Floater or GOAT.  Might consider partners as we did with the other Super Floater at AJX.  I have some nagging injuries, so I am not sure if I can fly this Saturday, but might still come out to the Fly in …. For the food….. and o yeah for the company 🙃

Allo Billie… pardon the typo “money” (auto-correct?).  The airplane the family is selling is a “Mini-Mooney” or officially a “Mooney M-18 Mite”.  This is a single seat power plane that looks like the more well know 4 seat, general aviation plane the Mooney M20.  I believe you need to have a regular power pilots license to fly it but I guess it may be eligible for the easier to do “recreational” power pilots license.  I am not involved in helping sell it, but can provide contact info for anyone interested. (I believe it needs work).
See you in the air, Alan
