Little overdevelopment east of Marshall on Saturday? Saw more of that on the drive back to San Diego too.

Looks more like perfect cloud development, actually. Not too tall, not too large area, just about right for an epic adventure at or near cloud base.

I caught that pic a little late – about 20 minutes before, there was a huge billow coming out of the top, and on my way home, the clouds looked way more vertical than that one (but I’m still learning).

the development that’s been dangerous, in my experience is where there’s classic anvil shape directly over the crest of Gorgonio, and a lot more, double the vertical development, and the solid, opaque, persistent large area virga that produces the down burst and gust front typically rolling down from Gorgonio, headed west out across the alluvial between Norton and Forest Falls.
I try to make sure when that’s happening to be on the ground, or out of the area before the gust front gets anywhere near Norton AFB.
