Yes, I think that drawing stands out, too. It would be great to convert it or one like it into a large mural on a wall of the new shade structure … if there is a large wall on the shade structure.

    Jai Pal,

What kind of railing would be required on the observation deck? How high?

I opt for the trailer, though the punji sticks in the foreground have to go.

The Parthenon is nice but it screams turbulence.

I’m against external speakers. You always have the option of listening to the chatter with earbuds. With external speakers, you’re forcing other pilots to listen to it whether they want to or not.

Since winds often turn west at the end of the afternoon, a roof height and design that creates the least turbulence should be the priority.

Synthetic grass, artificial turf is used on high school, college, municipal and professional athletic fields. Also in city parks and commercial installations. There’s a lot of it out there. At some point the stuff has to be replaced. I’m sure the used material would work for AJX. The entire LZ wouldn’t have to be covered. There’d be some work and expense involved putting it down. But the club could stop paying … what is it, $1800 a month for water. And no more pesky gophers and their mounds and divots.

Fire-retardant red. Good color for a glider.

Years ago, I saw a glider on Kagel launch sporting streamers. Come to find out, the pilot was attempting his first flight in soaring conditions. The streamers were a warning that the pilot was a newbie.

Didn’t see streamers used very often back then, but when I did the message was clear and I kept my distance.

Removed at the discretion of the instructor, streamers may be a good idea for fledgling pilots at AJX.

There’s a lot of safety information and site rules on the CSS website and posted at the shade structure but I how many visiting pilots read it? How many even pay the day-use fee?

I’ve talked to visiting PG pilots who landed near the hang glider cone.  They were unaware of the landing patterns. And I’m sure many visiting hang pilots don’t know site rules and hazards. Did they even see the info posted at the shade structure? Or bother to read it?

It would help to have a sign at the top of both stairs that can’t be avoided. ALL PILOTS READ THIS.  Or something similar that would list basic rules or direct pilots to information posted on the walls of the shade structure.

Haven’t seen the day-use sign-up sheet. Does it show the landing pattern and other info? Along with paying the use fee, could visiting pilots sign a sheet of paper that listed basic CSS safety rules and hazards?

Both.  Maybe I’m using the wrong term.  I think of both a reply and a new topic as a post. Both should appear in the new list. Chronologically.  Would help if each reply/post had a subject line.

Photos at the top of the WW pages shuffle, if that’s the right term. Be great if the top of the CSS home page cycled through a bunch of different shots.. I’ve seem some great photos taken by CSS pilots and their friends. Change the pics once a week or so.

It would be a way to promote the club. If I lived somewhere else I’d like to see what those lucky Crestline pilots have posted each week.

Nope.  We’re talking about adding a third forum list.  Leave “Forums” and “Active Topics” the way they are. Add a third list called “Recent Posts”.

That’s the way the old forum worked. Was easy to see all the new post.

I suggest adding a subject line for every post.

    Thanks.

I just clicked on the topic “2020 Bylaw Changes & Vote Discussion” which was on the top of the “Active Topics”.  I expected to go to the most recent post.  Instead I went to the top of the page.  There are twelve posts in that topic.  I had to search the dates to find the latest one.  I missed it the first time and had to go through them all again.

Obviously this is a big problem in a long thread that has replies to both the topic and individual posts.

Is there a reason you can’t create a chronological list of recent posts?
