General MemberNo! It’s gratis. I’m trying to guess how many will be present to buy enough food. Any guesstimates appreciated!

General MemberDone!
Linda Salamone
General MemberNo worries! Jana has graciously volunteered to take over this function for the club.

General MemberHey Tim, give Allied, Western, or Empire steel a call and get actual quotes for your ideas. Otherwise, the comments serve only as a delay.

General MemberJimmy! I love it. I’ll be asking for a re-ballot. Thank you for taking the time to be thorough.
just an FYI- a comment from a club member who is not able to post here. This was made in response to previous comments.
”This is supremely toxic management of the club’s building project. I hope the general club population sees this as what it is, obsession, hypocrisy, incompetence, and a toxic inflated ego. Functional management would be 1. Inside the specific shade structure cash budget 2. Not instantly back shooting anyone else’s suggestion 3 building on positive input and accepting any and all outside suggestions with gratitude and alignment with cost cutting and club member participation, mentioning labor and material contributions, commitments by name, keeping a published record of who’s going to do what, when. People like to be involved and see their names in context of a group project. ”

General MemberA yugo? You mean a $12,000 vehicle that gets you from point A to point B when $12k is what you have in the bank? Are we building a shade structure or a status symbol on property we don’t actually own?
Linda Salamone
General MemberThat speaks volumes about your opinion of your fellow club members. There is a lot of talent and commitment in them to get such a job done. If one of your proposals is not chosen, will you be watching from the sidelines?

General MemberOptions 5 and 6 the $40,000 “installation and foundation” is a bit misleading. The idea is that club members will do much of the labor and the concrete is the big expense. But Jai Pal is hoping for a go on one of his first 4 submissions.
we have $12,000 raised so far.Linda Salamone
General MemberYes. I wrote a draft grant back in March and I will not submit the final grant until we have decided on the design. The FFF will MAYBE match half of what we’ve raised (contrary to a rumor that they already stated they were committed to doubling our fundraising effort) so the more we raise ourselves, the more funding from them that might be available.
“Promises” or “unnamed potential investors” don’t count towards cash raised. Only money in the bank will be counted. So far that’s around $12,000Linda Salamone
General MemberFrom another member who is unable to post on this forum:
“The foundation for the steel structure quoted by Allied, and one that was omitted, Empire based in San Diego, IMHO was the lowest and best option with 30’ spacing on posts is 12” X 30” sauna tube concrete footing, called out by their company engineering , to California building code standard. Jai pal Khalsa is incorrect about the cost and design of the foundation. It’s nowhere near the > $20K he claims it would cost for the CSS to excavate and pour 8 -10 post base footings. A 10 yard truck is $1200 , short load mix on-site is $120/yard times around 1 yard per footing.”
Linda Salamone
General MemberI like option 5. With membership doing install with their collective expertise, this won’t break our bank. $34K plus more like $15K to erect. Simple, durable.

General MemberMay I suggest we also have a site monitor (Lua was the last one we had) to boost club revenue and prevent any misunderstandings or gaps in information/expectations/landing protocols? I can even suggest one non pilot who might be willing to be of use instead of just hanging around.

General MemberSo I’ll take that as a “no”. And speculate that this is a finger pointing/instructor bashing exercise and not so much a “let’s facilitate compliance after a simple, thorough and thoughtful attempt to get all the info”.
