General MemberMarshall is comfortably outside the TFR:

General MemberGood to go?
The Forest Service updated their webpage: https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/alert-notices#orders
The restriction on having a campfire and smoking is extended to Oct 15, but the one of interest (access to the forest) seems eliminated.
Jerome Daoust
General MemberConfirmed, through Oct 8.

General MemberToo funny. Only the older folks (like me) will recognize the Benny Hill style (sped up + quirky music): Example.

General MemberIs there anything you can’t do? ;-)
Thank you Alan !
Jerome Daoust
General MemberAwesome Alan.
Is it possible for the map’s zoom level not to reset (zoom out to a default) when we switch days?
Jerome Daoust
General MemberDecent forecast (no guarantees) for both days this weekend at Soboba.
I will be there today (Saturday) at 3pm, launching around 4pm.
It would be fun to see you there.
Update: It was great. Pilot report.
Jerome Daoust
General MemberIt does state in the Regional Order No. 20-07 (link to document): “This Order is effective from September 7, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, through September 14, 2020. ”
But I’m not seeing the changes to justify the forests reopening now: Less fires to fight? More resources available? Weather less favorable for fire to start or spread? Our government having a change of heart after reading this forum?
Looking forward to improvements and a reopening.

General MemberI just called and talked to Jeremy (owner/manager). They are fully open and ready for ya.
See first message at the top for more site info.

General MemberThank you for posting a warning about launch closures on the CSS main page. It will help pilots who were planning a visit. It also helped me warn upcoming students of postponed training.
A local alternative: Soboba (<– click the link). I just called and talked to Jeremy (owner/manager). They are fully open and ready for an influx of airtime-horny pilots.

General MemberThanks David. To be clear, please state the club’s position on…
- If vehicles are prohibited from using dirt roads to 750/Marshall launches, and if the access gates are closed/locked.
- If 750/Marshall/Crestline launches are not to be used, regardless of vehicle or hiking access. If the club position is “use your judgement” or “it would be a good idea to“, then launches are open and school instruction can proceed.
If there is no clear club position to use the launches or not, the more responsible pilots and schools will avoid using the site, while a reduced number of less responsible pilots and schools, will continue. It is best for pilots and schools to present a uniform response through club leadership, and avoid conflicts between pilots and between schools.

General MemberNice work Alan. :-)
Can the launch locations (map pins) be visible by default? At the moment, we can see them by enabling the “Sounding/SkewT” option through the layer icon in the upper right.

General MemberThank you for sharing Billie, I’m so glad you pulled through.
Hearing from people we know that were affected, makes it feel more real.

General MemberNice project. 2020/8/31 update: These items should have been delivered yesterday:
One 5’x7′ blue tarp.
2x rolls (1″ by 60 yards) of (blue painter’s) masking tape.
