General MemberGood solution, thank you.

General MemberThanks for the good work Alan. Let us know if there is a way to help.

General MemberCan we setup a fundraiser for a replacement PC, or maybe someone has one not in use ?

General MemberInstead of fighting the wind, how about retractable awnings (Amazon search) or a slide-on-wire canopy (Amazon search) ?
Deploy in morning, reel in at sunset. To geek it out, motorize and auto-retract for a given wind speed threshold. You can have a few to cover different sides of the container, maybe a separate one over the BBQ area. If the worst happens, not too expensive to replace.
Downside: An extraordinary dust devil could damage these.

General MemberThey are effective and humble people. Thank you!

General MemberGood to go?
The Forest Service updated their webpage: https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/r5/alert-notices#orders
The restriction on having a campfire and smoking is extended to Oct 15, but the one of interest (access to the forest) seems eliminated.

General MemberConfirmed, through Oct 8.

General MemberToo funny. Only the older folks (like me) will recognize the Benny Hill style (sped up + quirky music): Example.

General MemberIs there anything you can’t do? ;-)
Thank you Alan !

General MemberAwesome Alan.
Is it possible for the map’s zoom level not to reset (zoom out to a default) when we switch days?
Jerome Daoust
General MemberDecent forecast (no guarantees) for both days this weekend at Soboba.
I will be there today (Saturday) at 3pm, launching around 4pm.
It would be fun to see you there.
Update: It was great. Pilot report.

General MemberIt does state in the Regional Order No. 20-07 (link to document): “This Order is effective from September 7, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, through September 14, 2020. ”
But I’m not seeing the changes to justify the forests reopening now: Less fires to fight? More resources available? Weather less favorable for fire to start or spread? Our government having a change of heart after reading this forum?
Looking forward to improvements and a reopening.

General MemberI just called and talked to Jeremy (owner/manager). They are fully open and ready for ya.
See first message at the top for more site info.

General MemberThank you for posting a warning about launch closures on the CSS main page. It will help pilots who were planning a visit. It also helped me warn upcoming students of postponed training.
A local alternative: Soboba (<– click the link). I just called and talked to Jeremy (owner/manager). They are fully open and ready for an influx of airtime-horny pilots.
