What a day! Stephen took me on a wild and crazy tandem adventure with his new Ozone Magnum 3. We got up from the 750 all the way up to 7,400ft. It was super cold! Thermals and gloves were no match for the elements up there. Going backwards in high winds, frontal collapse, near-miss with an airliner, spirals, wing-overs, barrel rolls,… I’ll never forget it!!! 😄

Aww. Sucks when you drive out so far, but hey, it’s another flight in the log book. We were going to come out, but saw how overcast it looked on the web cam. We opted out.
Wow, awesome! Such a good feeling to get that save. 🙌
So far I’ve only had that happen to me once, where I was getting ready to land and then found something at the last minute to take me back up to 4,000 ft. 😄
I had a pretty good flight Sunday myself! I got 1.5 hours and never got sick, but the sun was getting low and it got too cold for me to try and stay up longer. Here’s my GPS track
Oh….ANNNNDDD….. I was thermaling with a red tailed hawk for the very first time!!! He was so close to me at eye-level (maybe like 5 yards away) and we were doing circles together. Damn I wish I had a GoPro on my head that day. Hopefully next time! It was so magical! 🦅😍
It was definitely better than I expected! As usual, I had to go land early (nausea sucks 👎 ), but it was nice to get high enough to go from Cloud back to Marshall, and then still be able to fly back to Cloud if I wanted. That was a first for me. 🥳
Here’s my GPS track.
Testing the limits of this forum. 😆 A few pics from this weekend at Elsinore:
Yeah, the LZ is sketchy. There are a couple of different fields to choose from, one bigger than the other. I think as long as people land, pack up ASAP and move on, it shouldn’t be much of an issue. I overheard a couple of times from the local pilots that people would land, hang out, drink & leave garbage. That’s what upset the land owner, who then put up a fence. 😕 Gotta respect peoples’ property.
Ugh!! That sucks! I had something similar happen to me in a local grass field. I was kiting my then brand new wing, when a dude and his unleashed giant poodle-looking dog came up. The dog started running through my lines, got tangled, panicked, and could have easily torn the glider. The dumbdumb just watched his dog and I struggling, instead of immediately grabbing him and getting the heck outta there. He was apologetic, but how about instead of watching, you come take control of your panicked animal? Clearly it hasn’t been trained to behave off-leash. By now our dogs know better than to get near gear, but you never know what to expect with strangers. :-/
