Tim, you are definitely one of the greatest heroes of this club. Thank you for all you’ve done.

Mid August 2014 during one of CA’s worst droughts.Mario MirallesGeneral MemberOne thing that wasn’t made clear about the water agreement between the XC Ranch and CSS is that it was decided by the club, not the Ranch, to pay $1800 for the water back in 2010!!
That’s right, we are paying the same for our water as we did 13 years ago.
How do we say thanks?Mario MirallesGeneral MemberTom, helping high school kids build an RV-12 plane is beyond cool!
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberWhat is wrong with some people? This and other stupid decisions have many consequences that affect all of us, not just those who have been removed from the ranch. Owen has done more for this club than I think most of us realize. Ask me, I’ll give you a short (long) list as Owen isn’t the type to brag. Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished.
Forget about the dog, some people are busy shooting themselves in the foot and taking others down with them.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberYes, I can relate to the changes…
Maybe Nathan has a suggestion. I think the technology is moving quickly enough that some will be available sooner than later. Question is, will you with prescription glasses or me with my eyephone be able to use these first! I’m betting you will sport these first ;D
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberThanks for letting me try these and posting the link, Nathan!
Bille, I tried these in the LZ after flying and they were very impressive. I need glasses to read my vario, but to my surprise the display on the lens was completely clear without my glasses. The technology is very cool. My worry was that it would be distracting while flying, but you don’t see it without consciously looking to the left with your right eye to find it. Unfortunately it wont work with my iPhone, but as soon as someone gets that to work, I’m getting some!
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberAs I understand it, the lot where the training hill is belongs to the University….. I’d like to know about that agreement too.
Let’s not screw the relationship between our leased land and the ranch or any other neighbors. After attending the meeting, it was clear to me that many on our current board do not have our future in mind. It is time for a big change and transparency to make wise decisions.
Thanks JD and Luke in particular for pulling up facts that this board should have figured out long ago.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberThanks for doing this Jana!
I thought it was a very productive meeting and a great flying day that only emphasized how lucky we are to have this place to fly.
Thanks to all the hard work of the many volunteers that have made this place what it is today, along with the fortunate relationship with the CCR that adds so much value to this oasis. Our freedom to fly here is and will always be threatened, whether by encroaching developments, bad decisions within or a number of other factors.
I started flying 50 years ago and hope to still be flying for at least another 30, so I don’t need to see this place gone to know what I’ve/we’ve got.Mario MirallesGeneral MemberCool, an American Kestrel!
Nice catch Ken!May 28, 2021 at 7:06 AM in reply to: Irrigation tube for glider storage, front & rear racks, XC bag for sale #12736Mario MirallesGeneral MemberIgnacio, I got the tube. I imagine the rest is gone as she moved to Florida.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberJohn, thanks for sharing your personal experience and thanks for volunteering to be the safety director. There are a number of times each year that I have to let a newbie or visiting pilot know about this, so it is relevant and helpful, especially with the traffic increasing and the consequences of a midair.
Mitch, saying that John is misinformed, bragging about his job or pretending superior knowledge says more about you than anything based on reality. I would suggest not polluting this forum anymore or learn to delete personal attacks before submitting your posts, because what little useful knowledge or information you add gets lost in your delivery.
Mario MirallesGeneral Memberthis is the glider I’m looking for:
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberI think Jana and Dan make some good points on this matter.
February 2, 2021 at 7:31 PM in reply to: Incident Report: PG vs Bushes Below Marshall Peak Launch, January 21, 2021 #11209Mario MirallesGeneral MemberWell said Jana!
I think Linda’s first post brings up a good argument of whether people running businesses at AJX should be able to hold a position. As much as I like those running their schools here and think that some have and would make great directors, there is a potential of conflict of interest.
As far as the incident goes, it seems minor but for the fact that it wasn’t the first time this happened. Hell, I’d argue it is good to learn to do an emergency landing in an unusual place (although this doesn’t appear to be what happened). I think an unsupervised student without proper membership is a problem. If there was something wrong with the facts reported, why didn’t the instructor contact David directly or come on the forum and explain it? There has been plenty of time to do so.
I also don’t understand why people find it hard to sign up for membership or short term membership before flying. Internet at the LZ is not the problem as there is plenty of time before getting up to launch to find cell service and an instructor probably should have worked that out with the student in advance.
Finally, thanks for doing all you have for the club David. I think that you have been open, fair, patient and professional. Hope you enjoy some great and safe flying this year, free of some of this extra work load.
