Regarding being a Chapter of USHPA or not, David, who was the human you spoke with to get the information you posted? CSS paid its Chapter dues of $735 as usual in March 2020 and again in March 2021. However in 2021 CSS , in agreement with USHPA, dropped RRRG insurance and replaced it with a CGL insurance policy meeting landowner’s requirements in accordance with the CSS lease and Use permit. CSS never stopped being a Chapter and was paid in full through renewal in 2022. USHPA did not send CSS a renewal invoice or communication of any kind regarding 2022-2023 dues. CSS asked USHPA for the dues renewal invoice for 2022-2023 this week. There has been no response yet from Galen or anyone else at USHPA HQ.
PS – as of fall 2021 the refund promised to CSS for the Insurance portion of the CSS Chapter dues has not been received or can not be verified by our accounting department/Treasurer.
I am in agreement with Stan, CSS paid its dues through 2022 and never cancelled being a Chapter of USHPA, nor did USHPA ever issue any notice of cancellation or change of status to CSS. Apparently we were still listed, according to Alan Crouse, as a USHPA Chapter on their website as of his post.Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberJana, Please read your own post and acknowledge that we were holding a regular (every other month) CSS Board Meeting. There is no 30 day notice requirement. CSS members are allowed to attend.
Board meetings are for regular business and questions and/or input from Membership.
We are NOT and did to have a CSS “GENERAL MEMBERSHIP” Meeting, which DOES require a 30 day notice.
Best regards,
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberJerome, CSS General members may attend the Board meetings that happen every two months and ask questions and make comments pertaining to the agenda items. Come out on the 16th if you can.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberThe Board will be taking questions and comments at the regular Board meeting on the 16th at the LZ 11am. Members can attend and be heard.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberBillie, if you believe the other pilot needs to be reminded of the rules or disciplined notify the Safety Director. Also you can bring it up at the General Member meeting in October.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberYes Alan, bylaws say for board meetings every two months members may attend. This is a regular Board meeting. General membership meetings are in April and October with 30 day advance notice.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberProgressing. Ready for a roof covering now. Donations welcome. $6000 for the material
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberThanks for explaining that Jana. The goal, or series of goals for our capital improvements was originally grouped into distinct parts to be “pay as we go” . The idea was to pay for materials only with money raised and to use donated labor to complete the work. So far labor has been donated by members and interested qualified parties. There are many milestones in building the new shade structure and facilities. Phase 1 has been design, engineering, underground utilities and foundations , steel columns and cast concrete support walls. $25k.
Phase 2 involves structural roof beams, roof framing, then a waterproof roof covering. $40k.
Phase 3 after removal of the container requires a new flat and level concrete slab with related LZ site grading around it plus grass restoration, some electrical, and lighting $15k+.
Phase 4 restore/remodel kitchen. Enclose a multipurpose space with floor to ceiling storefront walls and retractible doors. $15k.
Phase 4B. Build out multipurpose space, add electrical, install solar, a/c, lighting, displays, fixtures, club and site support, exhibit spaces for free flight history. Audio, video, stage, PA, teaching aids. Fixtures, furniture etc over time $10k to $20k as we grow into it.
These are estimates only. Additional facilities and features will be built when funded and neededFor those interested, a CSS lifetime membership is available for a donation of $10k, although donations of any amount will be welcomed
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberHey Linda or whoever is writing using your account, did you find out from the CSS website how much has been donated towards the selected Structure #3, with a budget of $58,000? What you have written is a lot of speculation and no facts. Whine and baloney. Would you like some cheese with that? Or the facts?
Be well maamJai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberDavid or whoever is sending or receiving on your account, I don’t know about your contractor. I’m not a bathroom contractor but am an Architect and have an excellent memory. So when it comes to requesting donations there is no “Hollywood” money, only a donation request of one USHPA member/pilot who happens to be an actor. In any case donations currently are about $15,000 towards the structure #3 budget of $58,000. Anything raised beyond the $58,000 can be allocated to other amenities or enhancements of the building for the Club. The idea of lifetime memberships for a donation of $10,000 has been brought forward by several CSS members and seems to be getting some traction. So if you can support the project in whatever way is possible for you that would be great. Good luck to us all. Regards, and I will do the same. Be well.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberHi Jerome. Mini split AC and Heat units do require a higher startup load and a lower run load. We should get 240V models for higher efficiency. Mitsubishi makes a reliable unit to those specs. Others are similar. Mark Hoffman is one of the HVAC Contractors in CSS who installs these. It will be sized for the space and work with power from solar. Thanks
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberDavid you have an active imagination. I never told you anything of the sort. I am asking members and non-members of CSS for donations. Where is yours? It takes a village.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberMr hards, etc, The budget voted on that was chosen is $58,000. Of plans 3 and 4 , essentially the same, there were 41 of 85 votes tallied (25+16). The budget was never $12k. As far as raising funds to build something new, we are trying to get everyone to contribute, whatever they can. There are no Hollywood elites, and there is no Taj Majal, only a new structure with posts, beams, walls, roof and new slab as needed. If someone wants to donate $10,000 they can get a lifetime membership and also a tax write off. Looking forward to building something that will meet the needs of CSS, our pilots and free flight community into the future.
PS – to answer the technical question about solar, we need to produce enough kilowatt hours to run 2 -12,000 A/C-heat units for about 2/3 of the year. 12 amps startup and 1+ amps running amps. 20 to 30 solar panels at 420w each will produce about 18,000 kilowatt hours per year. Any excess or shortfall will be sent or taken from the grid.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberMarc, a new design for the CSS landing zone was created and built in the computer with dimensions needed for our location and needs. Posts and beams and a roof is nothing unique or proprietary. Many buildings have posts, beams, walls and a roof. Some even have curved elements. Architects study history and theory and bring those concepts and examples to the table. The AJX site has unique conditions and calls for appropriate design responses to meet those needs and functions. Form follows Function. CSS is in need of a multipurpose facility to move forward into the next 50 years of free flight. Best.
Jai Pal KhalsaGeneral MemberIts a rendering. May or may not have been built in the UK. And the CSS design is different. Not a secret. But if you find it let me know.
