October 22, 2024 at 10:43 AM in reply to: Friendly reminder: TFR still in effect for Line Fire #21164Mario MirallesGeneral MemberOk, I’m confused on this subject as I completely read this situation as Dan does. While I know there was a discussion between Luke and the FS weeks ago about voluntarily staying West of the 18, this seems very out of date as the Line Fire is out and this westward “clear” area only pushes us closer to the still burning Bridge Fire.
I would even argue that going East over and North of the Rim of the World is fine under the FS agreement.
So, after Jerome’s and Dan’s comments, could we have an updated official posting on the subject.Mario MirallesGeneral MemberHey Marcello, you asked to bring carpet to the corner in your original post. Some of us don’t like that idea of more carpet and some suggested an alternative like some Turf type stuff (like what is near the shade structure). It seems there is no one giving you crap about using the turf and I know most of us, if not all of us, would like the present situation improved for you and everyone else using that area for kiting and teaching.
Again thanks for asking and I for one appreciate the efforts of anyone that improves our flying site, especially when it comes to safety. Thanks.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberThanks for asking Marcello.
While I completely understand why PGs want carpet and I have utilized it plenty on Crestline launch to keep my wing clean while setting up, it soon became apparent that as the UV and weather did its damage I now find that anything I lay down on it is completely covered in the loose carpet fibers. I doubt it’s very heathy to breathe in or for the environment in general.
I would personally do away with all the carpet as I also find it an eye sore. But then I only fly HGs. Is there a better alternative?Mario MirallesGeneral MemberI would highly recommend that container 2 be completely emptied and power washed with something like Simple Green. If any holes are discovered, they need to be plugged up. I would be very surprised if there aren’t damaged gliders in there. The smell alone would keep me from storing anything in there. It can’t be healthy.
MarioMario MirallesGeneral MemberJonathan landed in there once. They asked him to leave and said that most people try to escape that place, not land in there.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberThanks Luke, you guys have done a great job. The place looks seriously inviting.
Mario MirallesGeneral MemberDeleted because a tractor is scheduled for Fri!
marioMario MirallesGeneral MemberTom,
Sorry to hear this and ditto to what Jana wrote. I’ll miss flying with you. Maybe sailplanes in the future?
Thanks and good luck on healing.
