best per-inch protection would be one-time crushable sacrificial foam

Depends also on how far you had to drive to get to launch
Thanks for the great Pilot report Ken
The reason for USHPA has always been the liability insurance. It gives credence to the rating system. As poorly as it has been handled lately it still is the raisin de etre. No reason to recognize anyone without insurance.
The old ATOSs make pretty good trike wings.
Batteries are getting cheaper
John sums it up pretty well.
63 year old 152lb “pilot” attempts light-wind launch on hastily reconfigured 90lb wing that had only been used for powered flight for a decade… Knowledgeable witness said wing was unbalanced at launch. I knew was it after the first step and the right side had no lift. I didn’t or wasn’t able to abort or power through it. It hit the first big bush and I came down pretty gently no injuries.
Back in the 2000s while working at WillsWing I assembled a T2 for Kenny. Talked to him about it. We were friends. Flew with him. Deeply Grateful for all that.
I really enjoyed flying a few Sport 2 175s hooking in at 175lbs, (with harness reserve, shoes…). Great alternative to a paraglider.
OK so I did follow the law… and do follow many laws. It seemed sensible to take some precautions after watching what was happening in Italy, and then New York. And then to see the “incidents” at CSS… Well, the sight in Montana where I learned to fly is right above a town and depends upon permissions from the forest service, a university, and the town to stay open. Had to follow rules or couldn’t use the road. Maybe that’s not applicable to AJ…
A few people I really care about are susceptible to Covid. At this point it seems to be more dangerous than the flu. They are not sitting in a nursing home with dementia, they are awesome, and our collective actions may buy them some time? Maybe the cure is worse than the disease? Personally I thought it was kinda nice to have cleaner air for a week or so… Maybe it’s all bullshit, maybe the Rwandan Genocide never happened, smell ya later Mitch.
Now I remember why I quit facebook and stopped posting to forums.
Mitch I did not choose to stay earthbound because of a law.
Thanks for that James. I, for one, agree with you. I had planned to do some flying this spring. Was looking forward to it. Decided it was selfish.
