Thanks for helping me fix that problem.
In response to rating system changes, I agree the current system is not ideal, but have to agree with Zac a reluctance to change. I was frustrated with some of the requirements needed to advance to H4 and it’s failure to consider other factors. A conversation with Zac helped me realize the situation is more complicated than my situation. The varying flying conditions throughout the U.S. make it difficult to set one standard. Flying at AJX makes it pretty easy to acquire lots of flight time in a single season, whereas in other parts of the country, the flying season is much shorter and the ability to achieve long flights more limited. Simply put, the instructors who developed the rating system had to consider a broad swath of flying conditions to develop a reasonable standard of skill requirements. The rating system could certainly be improved and updated, but it must be done with broad consideration of pilots and flying conditions throughout the country.

With friends like those above, Paul was a lucky man.
I have a nice clean T2 – 144 bag I’d part with for reasonable if Rob doesn’t have something that will work.

H Jerome,
Is the Baofeng UV-B5 reliable and acceptable for flying at Torrey? If so I’ll buy the other one you have for sale. I see you’re on the shuttle this Wed as well as me, so if it the answer to the above is yes and you still have it for sale, I’ll bring cash.

Oh @#$% … they’re mine. Thanks for rescuing them. I hope they’re still there on my next trip to AJX.

I suffered from years of lift and drag misconceptions, as was clearly revealed to me by the below video link. Aeronautical engineers know well how to make an airplane fly, but the why still contains much mystery. I’m just glad it works.
Yeah… interesting. Thanks.
Saw this on HG.org classifieds
There are a couple other F 195’s for sale on the same site, but they were 1’s or 4’s
Good luck!
Yeah…. I shivered just watching that. ‘Twas beautiful!
Many thanks for the thoughtful and respectful discussion on this difficult issue. It seems only common sense our forum is for free flight issues and should be open to a wide audience in order to share the collective experience of pilots for the benefit of others. Discussions outside of free flight topics are more appropriately addressed in other forums.
I don’t understand why things often regressed to personal attacks or why the language could be so foul. It just doesn’t make sense if you’re goal is to persuade.
I was a minor victim of a Mitch rant and it seemed so silly. He has no knowledge of my background or experience, did not know the facts of the incident I posted on the forum, yet concluded I was emotionally incompetent. It made me wonder about Mitch’s emotional health.
I don’t know Mitch, but I looked him up and found amazing videos of his flights. He is clearly a gifted pilot with experience and insights we could all benefit from. I agree with a three strikes rule, and hope it is very rarely enforced. I also hope we find a compassionate way forward with respect and forgiveness. Our sport is always at risk of regulation from government or insurance companies or even public perception. We do not need division. We need to “hang” together.
I kind of feel like someone finally asked the question Joseph Welch asked of Senator Joseph McCarthy.
Yay!
Thanks for posting the board meeting minutes. I may have missed past postings so forgive me if I’m mistaken, but I’ve not seen this done regularly. I, and many other members, would greatly appreciate routinely posting this information after board meetings.

Agreed! Great story and one to be shared.
A one of a kind, pilot’s pilot and true hero.
So long Chuck.
