General MemberPic of my humble LZ for the day:

General MemberPage for the light version is now on the NOVA site here. Since it’s a “2 1/2 liner,” they recommend using a B3 stall instead of big ears, which produces a swept-wing configuration. Supposedly, this gives a more stable configuration and more sink than big ears. Interesting video on that here.

General MemberThat’s one hot lookin’ leading edge.

General MemberPrice reduced to $1750.

General MemberAh – I missed that detail. That makes sense.

General MemberAnother pilot saw this and posted to the SD group. Looks like the NOTAM was cancelled? I have not yet confirmed.

General MemberHere are several more videos from the Stubai Cup (new harnesses and wings from various manufacturers).

General MemberIn this case, it was lucky that someone was finally able to get ahold of the pilot. I and a couple others on the same frequency were above the downed pilot and none of us saw movement – just the wing spread out on the bushes. Since there was no word from the pilot and we were all seeing the same thing, I believe the request to call 911 was already issued on the radio, but I think someone at the LZ was able to establish comms with the pilot and the all-clear went out a few minutes later. Overall good outcome and was good to hear that there were no injuries.

General MemberPush out, head back closer to terrain, go to the casino – didn’t matter. Later into the afternoon, you couldn’t lose anywhere. Pretty fun.

General MemberSecond all of the above – day did not disappoint, especially in the dead of winter. I chose to be the wind dummy and launched first from Crestline. Max was 7100’ (behind Crestline and later in the day), and flew for just over 2.5 hours. There was a party at Billboard late in the day with several pilots boating around in the abundant lift.

General MemberAs of last weekend, the road up the front looked surprisingly good to me.
David Webb
General MemberWas indeed a much better than expected day. My flight time was 2:18 and got to a little over 5500′, with a short trip back to Crestline. I found little of value back there upon arrival and promptly exited the premises. Was great out front.
Thanks, Jérôme, for the pics of my new ride.

General MemberYep – it’s still sending direction data. Appears only the arm is broken. Cups aren’t spinning because they’re resting against the tower.

General MemberTime to pay the woodpeckers a visit. I’m guessing the latest round of ice buildup, which has now melted, broke our shiny new anemometer.
