She’s a keeper Bille. :-) Thanks for sharing your happiness, it is contagious.
Well done Bille !
Does she drive you to launch ?
Right until the last possible day… I have a student tomorrow (Sunday Oct 17). I expect nostalgic moments of “this is the last time I do this” during the day. Should be an enjoyable day with a fun repeat student. Stop by to say “hello” and share the moment.
Reminder: Starting Oct 18, I will still offer many services (<– This is link) Reserve repack, mentoring at various sites, theory classes, kiting, exams & ratings, gear sales (any brand) and adjustments.
Done, shared his Email.
That was a fun day. Interesting how my “low save” in front of Arrowhead doesn’t look so low on the ayvri visualization, “lift desperation” must have amplified the feeling of being low.
At the start near Marshall above 5500′, I observed 10 mph wind from the NW. Also obvious from crabbing to the left while heading to Arrowhead. This may explain why Arrowhead did not produce the usual climb, since it became the tail end of a spine with respect to upper wind flow. For the rest of the flight, lift was found on the normal SW facing terrain spines.
Accomplishing distance with “for anyone” wings, regular harnesses, while keeping safe landing options… Maximum fun to stress ratio.
Thanks you Ladi for the convenient retrieve.
As David mentioned, the hike is short to the “Mid-Spine” launch from where the vehicle drops you and your gear off.
I would be more concerned with setup area, as it probably is limited to the launch itself (picture, without weeds at the moment). If I were still flying HG (I did for a while), I would prefer launching from the top (1 hour drive from the LZ, Google map and Schematic) where there is lots of setup area.
That was a certified fun day. Talking to pilots that day, some were not familiar with…
Our world-famous (it really is) Elsinore convergence.
Today (Wed Sept 15) I completed my goal of “3 for 3“… 3-hour flights each day, for 3 days in a row. Today I got 1 min over 3 hours and up to 5.6 k. Thanks to Cory who captured my launch on video (mp4 file). Cory launched later and had a good flight.
Hi Cameron, I do have a higher res picture. Send me an Email and I will provide the original.
Monday, Sept 13… A good group of PG pilots today. Wind direction was good but on the strong side. I launched 3 hours before sunset and landed at sunset, reaching 6k in flight. A mostly smooth flight, with views matching the one in the picture above.
Tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept 14) is predicted to be even better: Ideal (not as strong) wind, and higher altitudes predicted. Good time to arrive is 2:45pm if you are new to the place (paperwork) otherwise 3:15 pm to catch the next shuttle up. But check the forecast before heading out. See you there. Update: PiRep for Sept 14.
It is a fun tease to read a “you missed it” flight report, but much better if you are told beforehand…
At this moment, conditions look favorable for late afternoon flying at Soboba for the next 2 days (Sept 13+14).
Yes, I know… You have one of those “job things” to go to.
Friday 11:25am: TFR (same size) still in effect West of Devil Canyon, but no obvious smoke at this time, when looking from Little Mountain.
All items have been sold.
Thanks to all who purchased and those who helped share the inventory.
That was fast: Sold everything, minus 1 wing…
Element 3 Large 95-125 kg (209-276 lb). So, for pilot weight of 167-234 lb (76-106 kg) considering 42 lb gear. It is NEW. Ideal for a new pilot or student, similar performance to a Mojo 5, but with more robust materials.
